Photography Workshops

Learn how to start using your camera and take your own photography to a next level.

If you are starting out with a camera, wondering how to shoot in manual mode or looking for a way to frame up your shot come and join us on a Photography Workshop.

Regardless of your skill and experience we will show you how to utilise your camera and equipment, correctly expose a photograph and understand how you can continue to get the photos you are after in your photography hunt.

Our workshops will run anywhere from 2 hours to a full day, allowing for plenty of time to learn the fundamentals of photography and your camera, and then time to put those newly learned skills into practice and take some shots in Ballarat.

We can also tailor workshops based on your skill and experience, if you have something in particular in mind that you are wanting to learn feel free to reach out.

What you'll learn

You’ll learn the best settings for your camera in different circumstances, in an easy to understand and engaging way.

The locations you’ll explore are picked to show off Victoria and get the best photos possible all while learning on the go.

Walk away from our workshop with your own photos, practical experience and new sense of appreciation for the Victorian outdoors.

Where you'll go

Heading down the coast there are multiple places we will stop and discover scenic coastal lookouts. Stopping at popular tourist attractions like The 12 Apostles, London Bridge and Loch Ard Gorge, we also explore various off the track locations along the Great Ocean Road where you will discover unique photographic opportunities.

The Otway’s National Park is a hidden gem, only a stones throw away from the Great Ocean Road. Here we will explore ancient rainforests and redwood forests, learning the skill and theory behind forest composition. Here is an ideal location to potentially find some native Australian animals in their natural environment.

We are lucky to have a wide range of photography locations right on our doorstep here in Ballarat. With dark skies that make Astrophotography workshops an absolute dream.

What you'll get

We think the best way to learn is go out and try your hand at some photography. We love to be able to show off some of the amazing locations that surround us here in Victoria and teach how to capture the moment on your own camera.

Workshops will include transport include pickup and drop-off within Western regional Victoria at discretion, and full transport throughout the duration of the workshop, returning to original pick up point.

The very best part of partaking in a photography workshop is the amazing photos you’ll be able to take home with you from a day exploring our beautiful coastlines and forests. Andy Smith Photographic also offer Photo editing workshops. Be sure to enquire as spots fill quickly.

Mountain sunset
I took Andy’s sunset photography workshop and it was honestly such good value for money. The face to face, on-site workshop went for 2 hours where I learnt so many tips and tricks. Andy teaches in depth but is approachable and passionate. Thanks ASP!
